Education matters. Schools that are outfitted with supplies and materials – that engage with students – go further. Schools that are updated and comfortable provide a better learning environment. Each time a child comes to school and is surrounded by possibilities they work a little harder. Every time a child goes to school and has teachers who inspire, they inspire in kind.
Education matters. Teachers are one of the most under appreciated resources. Teachers become teachers because they were inspired as students. Or they care about the future of education. Or they are great at teaching. Teachers work better with resources.
We are a group of educators all living and teaching in Israel for the year. Many of us are participating in a program called MASA Israel Teaching Fellows. We have seen first hand here and around the world the importance of great education. But teachers can only get so far. We decided to start this campaign to help schools all over Israel. This campaign is important because not only does it help spread the importance of education but it helps spread resources. Every shirt that is purchased through this campaign will help provide the money to buy school supplies for a school in need in Israel. This means depending on the amount raised together we can make a difference for children and education all over the country.
We have seen first hand the inequality in the school system, as well as the limited amount of resources that are spread between schools nationwide and we are looking to bridge those gaps. With this campaign, we also hope to bring awareness to the importance of education for every child in any country. We have been integrated into the school system and community for half the school year and have seen both sides of the problem. This way you can help us give back with more than just our words. We are hoping that this campaign inspires you to help, just as teaching inspires us. If nothing else we hope to help convey the importance of education in anyone’s future. Education Matters. I matter.
